Get to the Other Side

Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you, he will neither fail nor abandon you – Deuteronomy 31:8

Sooo…I spent this past weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was there on NABA business but was able to venture out to do some touring of the city. Living in Indianapolis, I would say I am used to the changing weather patterns which may include snow one day and 60 degrees the next. Salt Lake, however, threw me for a loop. One minute it was nice, the next minute it was raining, then it would start snowing while you are driving up the mountains…all within one hour. After a couple trips though, I noticed a trend. With the rain, snow and gloom on one side, as we kept driving higher through the mountains and the clouds, the weather cleared up. On the other side of the clouds was the sun, bright skies and snow-capped mountains. Beautiful sights of God’s creation. Tempted to stay in the hotel and not head up the mountains, we were glad we pressed through to the other side.

Sitting on this plane now (it’s been 45 minutes btw) waiting to be de-iced from the snow, I am anticipating getting on the other side of the clouds. I am not looking forward to the turbulence we are getting ready to encounter but I know there are clearer skies ahead. How many times have we gotten stuck in the hotel or freaked out on the plane because we could only see the gloom outside and were anticipating rough patches?

If you are like me, you have #goals that need to be achieved. You have #callings that need to be

fulfilled. You have roads that need to be traveled. I know that I have talked myself out of many things. I could have accomplished much more by now but the anticipation of rough patches has discouraged me. Getting a glimpse of the storm and the clouds has detoured me. Hearing the groaning and murmuring of others has stopped me. I know I am not alone in this so let us throw these feelings off! Let us get to the other side with renewed and refreshed spirits!

We should find comfort in knowing that whatever the path between here and there looks like, God will go ahead for us. Just as Moses told Joshua in the key scripture in Deut. 31 as he prepared to lead the people of Israel into battle to claim their land, we should not be afraid. God doesn’t fail us like we do him. He doesn’t abandon us like we do our plans and goals. He is on the other side waiting for us. We have to be like Paul and press towards the mark (Phil 3:14). We must not grow weary but know that on the other side, we will reap if we do not give up (Gal 6:9). If we find our strength and encouragement from the Lord, we will no doubt be victorious!

Don’t get stuck. Don’t give up. Press on my friends… Be Victorious! #lifegoals

Peace. Blessings. Love.
